1994 Cannabis Cup – The 7th Awards. November 1994 – Amsterdam, The Netherlands
1994 – The 7th High Times Cannabis Cup. Coinciding with the 20th anniversary of HIGH TIMES magazine, the seventh Cup in Amsterdam included a Hemp Expo at the Pax Party House and an opening ceremony at the legendary Melkweg venue. This year, the organizers decided to have a separate competition for the 15 coffeeshops that entered.
Also, for the first time, the Sensi Seed Bank operated a tour to Cannabis Castle, where Neville bred many of his award-winning marijuana strains. Three seed companies entered: Sensi Seed Bank, Cerebral Seeds, and Positronics.
Sensi Seed Bank won the Cannabis Cup with Jack Herer. The Green House was next with their ‘Citral Skunk,’ and Grey Area grabbed third place with AK47.
The celebrity judges included Soma, Chris Conrad, Jack Herer, and Enuff Z’Nuff.
The Cup had become a worldwide media event, with Tokyo TV broadcasting an hour-long documentary about the Cup, and a lengthy article appeared in New York Times Magazine, complete with a flowering “sea-of-green” clone on the cover. The head of the local Dutch police visited the Expo and came away favorably impressed by the spiritual vibrations of the event.
