The 1st Medical Cannabis Cup
The first Medical Cannabis Cup was held in San Francisco, California, on June 19–20, 2010. This event was modeled after the renowned High Times Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam, which had long been a celebration of cannabis culture and innovation. The Medical Cannabis Cup, however, focused specifically on strains and products suitable for medical marijuana patients.
During the event, a wide variety of marijuana strains were judged across numerous categories, including Best Indica and Best Sativa, as well as awards for Best Concentrates, Edibles, Glass, Products and Booth. Attendees had the opportunity to sample a range of cannabis products, with Cups awarded to the top contenders in each category. The event not only celebrated cannabis cultivation but also aimed to raise awareness about the medicinal benefits of marijuana, helping to legitimize the growing medical cannabis industry in the U.S.
